Self Destructive Behaviors in Propensity to Self Subversion
An individual who is inclined towards having self-destructive behavior is also known as having a propensity towards self-subversion. Propensity is a type of characteristic or behavior that an individual chooses to have. Alcoholism or low self-esteem or choosing abusive relationships can be different types of self-destructive behaviors.
Subversion occurs when an individual undermines or destroys something, this can unfortunately include the individual self. It is very important to understand why we behave in certain ways. Some individuals seem to lead a normal and healthy life but underneath the surface, that individual might have a harmful propensity to self-subversion. If an individual does have a very self-destructive pattern of behavior, it is very important for that individual to get help.
Self-destructive behavior can take on many different forms. Someone who overeats engages in self-destructive behavior because that individual is overeating due to some emotional conflict in their life. For some reason the individual has learned to deal with conflict by over eating. This is a type of self-destructive behavior that can lead to obesity, health problems and an early death due to health complications. It is very important for an individual to realize why the individual has a tendency to overeat.
Another type of self-destructive behavior is negative thinking. Negative thinking is one of the worse roadblocks for an individual to set in place. It is very important for an individual to use positive thinking in order to be successful in life. An individual has limitless possibilities and must always remember this. Negative thinking only hinders an individual throughout their lifetime.
An individual might desire a promotion but instead of thinking of ways in which to achieve the desired promotion the individual may instead tell themselves that they will never receive the promotion anyway. This is a self-defeating attitude that only leads to an unsatisfying and unhappy life. An individual can achieve anything in life as long as the individual believes that anything can be accomplished.
Self-destructive behavior can take on more physically violent forms. An individual who was abused throughout their childhood may then seek out abusive relationships later in life. This can become a very dangerous and deadly situation. Several women and children have died as a result of staying in an abusive situation. An individual who is in an abusive situation must receive help through a shelter or counseling program.
An individual who has a substance abuse problem has a propensity for self-subversion. This individual is destroying themselves by indulging in an extremely negative behavior. Many times individuals who have a substance abuse problem must enter a rehabilitation center or receive other forms of treatment. This is a problem that can lead to death, loss of a job and loss of loved ones. This is a very serious self-destructive behavior.
An individual must learn the positive rewards and benefits of engaging in healthy positive behavior. An individual must give up their propensity to self-subversion. A propensity to self-subversion only leads to a negative and hurtful life. It is important to identify negative behaviors and to change the negative behaviors into a more positive direction. This can be done through the love and support of others.
If you have a propensity to self-subversion, it is very important to look within and to understand why. This is the only way that you can achieve the life you deserve and have always dreamed about. Each of us has a negative behavior that we must have to change at some point in our lives before that behavior becomes a serious roadblock. This is part of the healthy path of self-growth, self-enlightenment and self-development.
